Hey family,
Here's a story all about how I braved the mean streets of Rome In Search of Flower Burger...
Although Sprint is by far one of the worse phone companies while in America, it's actually not half bad in Italy. I had the luxury of using my international data how I pleased. This came in handy for translations and of course navigation. After a full day of exploring, I set my sights on the true prize, finding a full vegan restaurant. The first Italian vegan burger was created at Flower Burger in Milan back in 2015. Fast forward four years and Rome recently got their own version of this plant-based dream. They are famously known for their brightly colored burgers and I just had to try one. We missed our first chance when we were only two miles away due to our lunch break being during "sietsa". This is a time where many shops and national buildings close in order for employees to go home and have an extended lunch with a possible nap time. This usually occurs between noon-1:30ish to as late as 4pm. Many places, like Flower Burger, don't even open back up until 7:30 pm. Although this tradition has since dissipated for most, some still hold true to it especially those in or near the Vatican City. After walking 10 miles later that night (pretty much everyone walks in Italy so you get used to it), we arrived at the location shortly after they opened for dinner. To our surprise, the menu was in English and the first group of customers were all speaking English as well. Although the cashier knew some English and was able to give us an english menu, we still had to translate some portions back into Italian lol btw the Italian word for fries is "patatine fritte". I decided to order the Cherry Bomb which consist of a pink bun, lentil and basmati rice patty, vegan cheddar, tomato, lettuce, soybean sprouts, and "rocktail sauce" with a side of fries. The burger was WORTH THE WALK! It was flavorful and so filling that I did not even finish my fries. America, we need to join the wave and get ourselves a Flower Burger! Oh how I miss Italia!

Peace and Love,
